Exploring resources and making fortune, conquering the nature and approaching civilization - the "modern" style of life have to be questioned now. Is it a real kind of modern civilization of large scale resource exploration, large scale manufacturing, large scale consumption and then large scale waste generation, large scale pollution to the environment?

Facing all the environmental compact we bring to the one and only globe, we began to realize the importance of balanced sustainable development among population, resource, environment and economy. Sustainable development become a transcentury focus. Environmental protection is an urgent task for all the human being.

We have only one globe and live under the same sky. Environmental protection should be our common responsibility. The environmental information should be shared by all. Greener Beijing want to present a sky for all the like-minded people, to discuss the environmental issues; to share the environmental information, environmental technology development, environmental protection practice; to awake the social awareness of resource, environment and also the concern over the future of our home - the one and only globe.

Among the three kind of pollution, namely water, air and solid waste pollution, the third features the difficulty of its treatment, the late awareness by the public, the comprehensive environmental compact, the closeness to our daily life. Focus on this problem is the most efficient way to awake the public awareness of environment and resources, to draw special attention to the environmental impact of our daily life. Greener Beijing environmental forum will highlight solid waste problems.

Exploring environmental issues and examining the solid waste problem, one understanding become more and more clear in our mind. No one can clear of environmental crime, and nobody can escape from the victim list of the due environment degradation! Environmental protection is not only a slogan, a talk show topic, it is more of a systematic science, more of an awareness, a concept, an action, a life style. It needs common effort of the government, the experts and the community.

The strength of one person maybe trivial, but when we get together, we can surely arrange something, we can surly achieve something, we could  present a brilliant starlit sky. Let's join together to share environmental information and make most use of the technology development. Let's join together, start from every little thing in our daily life, "think globally, act locally", shoulder our common responsibility. Let's join together to be friends of nature instead of enemies of nature. We are sure, with a strong sense of responsibility, with joint effort, we will have a much more brilliant starlit sky here; we can cure this world which we hurt so; Beijing will not be gray anymore, the globe will not cry any more; we will have a green home for you and for me.
